AATCC announces programme for 2019 international forum

AATCC is headed west to the Lone Star state for its 2019 international conference. The event will be held from April 9-11, 2019, at the Sheraton Downtown in Fort Worth, Texas, US. Innovating Today for a Challenging Tomorrow is this year’s theme. Trey Bowles, cofounder & executive chairman of the Dallas Entrepreneur Centre, will provide the keynote address.

Bowles will present ‘Building the Future Innovation Ecosystem through Collaboration’. This keynote will explore the key components of an innovation ecosystem and how by working together we have the best chance of innovating today for the challenges of tomorrow, AATCC said in a press release.

Kristopher Robin Steven from Stitch Texas will talk on Apparel Development and Production in the USA. Manufacturing in the USA will be discussed by Wesley Horne from Hornwood. Courtney Cruzan from Everest Textile USA will talk on Everest USA Scaling New Heights.

Higg MSI and Product Module - A New Tool for Material Selection and Environmental Assessment will be the topic chosen by Michele Wallace from Cotton Incorporated. Jessica Kosak from The Sustainability Consortium will talk about Visibility and Collective Action: Textiles’ New Narrative.

California Proposition 65 - The Wild, Wild West will be discussed by Louann Spirito from SGS Consumer and Retail Services. Ned Cochrane from Mount Vernon Mills, chair NCTO’s Microfibers Committee will talk on the topic Microfibers and the Textile Industry: A Status Report. Jacqueline Sewell from North Carolina State University will talk on the topic Water Risks Influencing the Future of the Textile and Apparel Industry.

Sustainability and Performance Today: Water-free Dyeing and PFC-free, Water-free DWR Finishing is chosen by Gary Selwyn from Green Theme Technologies. The Key Drivers and Impacts of the Chinese Government Regulatory Actions on the Textile Supply Chain is the topic chosen by Ron Pedemonte from DyStar.

Roland Connelly Sr. from RoLyn Group Color Consultants has chosen to talk on Comparison of LED Lighting Adopted by Retailers to Typical LED Spectra Adopted by the CIE. Christy Velez-Douglas from JCPenney will speak on Working with Designers to Understand Feasibility. Cathy Mays from Lands’ will speak on Lands’ End Universal Collection of Adaptive Clothing. End Retail’s Apocalypse or a New Dawn? will be the topic chosen by Tony Anzovino from Haggar Clothing.

A speaker from Pulcra Chemicals talked on Waterless Dyeing of Denim: Real World Experiences and Learnings throughout the Introduction and Scale-up. Don Alexander from Anovotek talked on Insect Repellent Textiles and Apparel Value-Added Products for Today’s Savvy Consumers.

Apurba Banerjee, from Brrr° will speak on The Future of Cool: Advances in Cooling Technologies for Fabric. Madison Maxey, Loomia Technologies will talk on the topic Intelligent Drapable Circuitry Design: A Philosophy for Scalable Electronic Textile Development. Challenges and Learnings on the Apparel Fabric Development Journey will be discussed by Vikram Sharma from Honeywell.

The effect of Novel Lightweight Material Innovations on the Physiological Comfort of Structural Firefighters will be discussed by Meredith McQuerry from the Florida State University. Malvina Hoxha from Lenzing Fibers will talk on the topic Lenzing Drives Circular Economy in the Textile World through Branded Lyocell Fibers. Renuka Dhandapani from Cotton Incorporated will speak on the Influence of Fiber Selection on Personal Microclimates and their Effects on Sleep Quality.

The event also includes a poster session, the Herman & Myrtle Goldstein Student Paper Competition, the Textile Bowl, networking receptions with table-top exhibits, and the Awards Luncheon, where AATCC’s most prestigious awards will be presented. (GK)
