Apex body of the Pakistan textile sector, All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) Punjab unit, convened an emergency general body meeting to press the case for uniform energy prices across the country and remove the disparity. APTMA members from Faisalabad and Multan chapters also partook in the deliberations through a video link.

The members however praised the Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif for his support to end disparity in gas prices in Punjab, when compared with other states.
According to APTMA, the disparity arose as a result of the Economic Coordination Committee’s (ECC) decision to reduce price of natural gas price for the general industry from Rs 600 per MMBTU to Rs 400 per MMBTU. (AR)
