Bangladesh has had consultations with the United States, the European Union (EU) and the Group of 77 to take special measures as Dhaka fears to lose around $2 billion worth export orders due to the COVID-19 outbreak, foreign minister A K Abdul Momen recently said. There is a possibility of decline in the country’s remittance flow as well, he said.

He said he has directed all head of Bangladesh missions abroad and urged foreign ministers of concerned countries over phone to take special care of Bangladesh expatriates and overseas workers in their respective countries, according to Bangla media reports.

China will donate medical supplies, including 10,000 test kits and 10,000 personal protection equipment and 1,000 infrared thermometers, which are scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on March 26 on board a special aircraft.

China will also hand over 1,500 N95 masks on March 28, he said. Bangladeshi businessmen are also importing Chinese medical supplies, he added.
