Bangladesh foreign minister AK Abdul Momen recently discussed bilateral issues with visiting Indonesian counterpart Retno Marsudi and stressed the importance of an early conclusion of a bilateral preferential trade agreement (PTA) by making it inclusive and mutually beneficial.

Signing of the PTA, now under negotiation, could be an effective tool for further strengthening ties, he said.

The Indonesian minister is visiting Bangladesh to attend the 21st The Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) council of ministers meeting.

Momen reiterated Bangladesh’s belief in a free, open, peaceful and inclusive Indo-Pacific for common global benefit, according to Bangla media reports.
