Bangladesh to offer incentives worth Tk 74.9 mn to jute cultivators

The Bangladesh government will provide around Tk 74.9 million as incentives to farmers to boost jute cultivation. Free seeds will be offered to 3,36,600 small, marginal and medium farmers, an official release said.

Each farmer will get a kilogram of BJRI Tosha Pat-8 (Robi-1) seeds, developed by the Bangladesh Jute Research Institute, for a hectare of land under jute cultivation, a domestic news agency reported.

Disbursement of the incentives will soon begin at the field level.
