Belarus' Kamvol eyes US, Canadian markets

Belarusian textile firm Kamvol aims to branch out into the north American markets, according to the country’s state light industry concern Bellegprom, which is in talks with Alliance Apparel Group in the United States and Canada’s Les Entreprises Presidentielles, which specialise in the production of apparel from wool, cotton, linen and synthetic fibres.

In the first quarter of this year, Kamvol established cooperation with a number of major partners, including in the Eurasian Economic Union. Among them were distributors in Russia, Armenia and Uzbekistan. The company signed $7.5 million worth of contracts over the period, according to Belarussian media outlet.

According to Bellegprom, in 2019 Kamvol increased its supplies to Russia by 1.3 times, to Ukraine by 1.5 times, to Uzbekistan by 3.2 times, to Moldova by 1.3 times and to Azerbaijan by 16 times. The company exports to 17 countries.

Kamvol is Belarus' only and the Commonwealth of Independent States’ largest producer of pure wool and semi wool suit and dress fabrics, pure wool, semi wool, polyacrylonitrile knitted and woven yarn with a complete production cycle. The company's key partners are Russia, Ukraine and Azerbaijan.
