Brenntag, the global market leader in chemicals and ingredients distribution, today announced the acquisition of PIC Química e Farmacêutica Ltda. (PIC) and PharmaSpecial Especialidades Químicas e Farmacêuticas Ltda. (PharmaSpecial) in Brazil. This acquisition significantly expands the company’s position in the growing Life Science market in Brazil. PIC and PharmaSpecial are established, family-owned specialty chemicals distributors, serving large customers and national compounding pharmacies in Pharma, Personal Care and other Life Science industries.

This acquisition by Brenntag Specialties in Latin America is also an opportunity to expand Brenntag’s global network of Application & Innovation Centers. In addition, the company gains entry into the soft gel capsule market.

Founded in 1991 and headquartered in Itapevi, Brazil, the two businesses generated sales of approximately 11 million EUR (~$12.19 million) in 2023. Financial details of the deal are not being disclosed. Closing of the transaction is subject to customary conditions, including regulatory approvals and is expected in Q4 of 2024.
