However, imports of yarn and fabrics dipped slightly by 0.5 per cent during the same period to $5.04 billion.
In the month of April 2021 alone, apparel and accessories exports fetched $11.12 billion for China, while textile yarns, fabrics and related products earned $12.15 billion. During the month, imports of textile yarns, fabrics and related products stood at $1.47 billion.
Last year, despite the COVID-19 pandemic and global economic slowdown, textile and garment exports from China increased by 9.6 per cent year-on-year to $291.22 billion in 2020, according to data from the ministry of industry and information technology. Category-wise, textile exports jumped 29.2 per cent year-on-year to $153.84 billion, while garment exports declined by 6.4 per cent to $137.38 billion.
