Coal production activities in China have rebound after a cold wave swept several parts of the country last week disrupting mining. On November 10, China produced 12.05 million tonnes of coal, around 120,000 tonnes higher than the previous daily record, according to the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the country’s economic planning agency.

The average daily coal production on the prior three days, i.e. between November 7 and 9 was 11.75 million tons, NDRC said.

Along with the increase in coal output, transport of the black mineral is also picking pace with the cold weather’s impact on transport, including railways, highways and ports, gradually dwindling.

As a result, the coal stock in the nation’s power plants has continued to improve. This is helping to boost energy supply and stabilising prices in the country, Chinese media reports said citing NDRC.

Meanwhile, State Grid Corporation of China, the state-owned electric utility corporation has said that the supply and demand of power have returned to normal in areas operated by it, and the scale of power cubs has been significantly reduced.
