China's gross domestic product (GDP) grew by 5 per cent year-on-year in the first half (H1) of 2024, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Monday. The country's GDP reached approximately 61.68 trillion yuan (about $8.65 trillion) during this period.
In the second quarter, the country’s GDP saw an increase of 4.7 per cent, compared to the same quarter in the previous year.
"Overall, the national economy has continued to improve in the first half in a stable manner," said Chinese media reports, quoting an NBS spokesperson.
