Challenge, a Chinese textile company based in Lahore, has signed an agreement with the government of Gilgit-Baltistan in Pakistan to train 2,000 workers from the region and provide employment to them in its factory. The signing ceremony recently held in Islamabad was attended by the representatives of the company and the Gilgit-Baltistan government.The ceremony was also attended by businessman Qamar Bobi who played a role in bringing the Chinese investment in Pakistan, according to Pakistani media reports.
Speaking at the ceremony, Karen Chen, managing director, Challenge Group, said that the company will select 2,000 workers from Gilgit-Baltistan, train them and provide jobs in their textile establishments in Lahore. The workers will also get food and accommodation.
