Meanwhile, Panipat’s recycled yarn market also noted weak trend as demand from downstream industry was still weak. However, cotton prices improved in north Indian states.
Delhi market noted bearish demand from the weaving industry and prices of cotton yarn declined by ₹3-4 per kg. Meanwhile, cotton prices gained slightly in north India because of negligible arrival in Punjab. Ginning mills had gone on indefinite strike from today as the state government has served notices to ginning mills for the recovery of pending tax of several years which amounted to crores of rupees. However, total arrival in north India remained flat at 27,000 bales of 170 kg as supply loss in Punjab was compensated with increase in arrival in lower Rajasthan. Traders said that mills were buying cotton on regular basis despite bearish tone in yarn trade.
North India’s cotton arrival was noted at 27,000 bales each of 170 kg. State-wise arrival was noted as: Haryana 8,000 bales, upper Rajasthan 8,000 and lower Rajasthan 11,000 bales.
