Cotton yarn prices eased by ₹2-3 per kg in the Ludhiana market as demand from the downstream industry remained weak. However, prices remained stable in the Delhi market. Traders noted that cotton yarn demand was average, with buyers being cautious about new purchases due to slow movement in downstream industries. Nonetheless, there are expectations of increased buying when garment manufacturing activities pick up for the upcoming summer season. Trade sources mentioned that polyester-cotton yarn witnessed slightly better buying.
In the Ludhiana market, a decrease of ₹2-3 per kg in cotton yarn prices was observed. The market has not seen significant buying as of now, but there are expectations for a demand increase. A trader from the Ludhiana market told Fibre2Fashion, “Stockists and mills are trying to maintain their sales flow. Therefore, they have had to offer lower prices. However, there is hope for higher buying in the weeks to come, supported by the summer season’s demand.”
In Ludhiana, 30 count cotton combed yarn was sold at ₹250-260 per kg (GST inclusive); 20 and 25 count combed yarn were traded at ₹240-250 per kg and ₹245-255 per kg respectively; and carded yarn of 30 count was noted at 230-235 per kg, according to Fibre2Fashion’s market insight tool TexPro.
The Delhi market witnessed stability in cotton yarn prices, with average demand from the downstream industry. A trader from the Delhi market told F2F, “Currently, there is no significant buying from the downstream industry. Mills and stockists are facing pressure due to weaker demand.” In this market, 30 count combed yarn was traded at ₹250-255 per kg (GST extra), 40 count combed at ₹75-280 per kg, 30 count carded at ₹227-231 per kg, and 40 count carded at ₹252-255 per kg, as per TexPro.
The recycled yarn market in Panipat also noted stability in prices. Cotton comber was traded at previous levels due to poor demand. However, trade sources expect that manufacturing activities may improve from next week as workers return after the Diwali holiday. If prices don't get support, demand will improve.
In Panipat, 10s recycled PC yarn (Grey) was traded at ₹74-78 per kg (GST paid). Other varieties and counts were noted at 10s recycled PC yarn (Black) at ₹49-52 per kg, 20s recycled PC yarn (Grey) at ₹85-90 per kg and 30s recycled PC yarn (Grey) at ₹133-142 per kg. However, cotton comber prices were noted to ₹112-114 per kg. Recycled polyester fibre (PET bottle fibre) noted at ₹67-70 per kg.
North India cotton prices remained steady after a weak trend last Saturday. Various trading centres in north India noted prices at previous levels. According to traders, trade was thin, and buyers were very selective in their new purchases. Regional festivals dented cotton arrivals in various mandis. Total arrivals in north India reduced to 19,000 bales of 170 kg. State-wise arrivals were noted as Punjab 2,000 bales, Haryana 6,000 bales, upper Rajasthan 6,000, and lower Rajasthan 5,000 bales. Cotton was priced in Punjab at ₹5,325-5,425 and in Haryana at ₹5,300-5,400, upper Rajasthan at ₹5,325-5,425 per maund of 37.2 kg. In lower Rajasthan, cotton was priced at ₹53,000-54,000 per candy of 356 kg. Prices were noted slightly higher in the Bikaner line of upper Rajasthan.
