In south India, cotton yarn prices have exhibited mixed patterns. In Mumbai, prices for certain varieties of cotton yarn increased by ₹2-5 per kg due to marginally improved short-term demand. Meanwhile, Tiruppur's market experienced stable pricing amidst low-key purchases by spinning mills. Market players are anticipating price revisions by spinners for the coming month. Traders speculate that prices might decline by ₹10 per kg, as goods are currently being sold below listed prices after discounts. In Gujarat, cotton prices saw a dip as demand from spinners waned today.

The cotton yarn market in Mumbai has seen a positive trend in specific varieties. Prices have risen by ₹2-5 per kg for varieties such as 80 carded weft, 44/46 carded warp, 40/41 carded warp, and 30/32 carded warp. The weaving industry is currently focused on short-term purchases. A trader from Mumbai informed Fibre2Fashion, "Power looms in Maharashtra and other regions are operating on a hand-to-mouth basis. However, they are keen to buy particular types of cotton yarn essential for their production lines."

In Mumbai, 60 carded yarn of warp and weft varieties were sold at ₹1,400-1,420 and ₹1,275-1,330 per 5 kg (excluding GST), respectively. Other prices include 60 combed warp at ₹315-322 per kg, 80 carded weft at ₹1,400-1,440 per 4.5 kg, 44/46 carded warp at ₹254-259 per kg, 40/41 carded warp at ₹238-244 per kg, 40/41 combed warp at ₹262-266 and 30/32 carded warp at ₹227-232 per kg, according to Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro.

The Tiruppur market has observed stable cotton yarn prices, largely due to subdued buying from the weaving industry. The market is currently in a wait-and-watch state, as spinning mills are expected to revise their rates for November 2023. A local trader told Fibre2Fashion, "Mills are already offering cotton yarn at discounted rates. However, an official announcement about price revision provides a sense of market direction. Mills may reduce prices by ₹10 per kg." There is speculation that mills might delay price revisions until Diwali to avoid signalling a pressure sale.

In Tiruppur market, cotton yarn prices remained stable. The prices were noted as 30 count combed cotton yarn at ₹260-265 per kg (excluding GST), 34 count combed cotton yarn at ₹268-273 per kg, 40 count combed cotton yarn at ₹280-285 per kg, 30 count carded cotton yarn at ₹235-238 per kg, 34 count carded cotton yarn at ₹238-243 per kg and 40 count carded cotton yarn at ₹247-252 per kg, as per TexPro.

In Gujarat, cotton prices have decreased by ₹200-300 per candy of 356 kg, owing to a slowdown in demand. While spinning mills were active in purchasing on Monday, their activity quietened today. Overall, demand was not particularly weak, as spinning mills aim to maintain sufficient inventory. However, caution prevailed due to tepid demand from the weaving and garment industries. New season Shankar-6 cotton was quoted between ₹57,500-57,700 per candy of 356 kg in Gujarat. Southern mills expressed intent to purchase cotton at ₹58,000-58,200 per candy. Gujarat's market saw the arrival of around 25,000 bales of 170 kg, with all-India arrivals estimated at 85,000-87,000 bales of 170 kg.
