In Gujarat, cotton prices remained positive due to high demand from spinners and reports of crop losses from heavy rains in central India. Trade sources revealed that spinning mills were making regular purchases for the next 2-3 months due to insufficient stock. There were reports suggesting that the cotton crop in Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh, as well as other nearby regions, was severely affected by heavy rains. Many farmers have had to replant cotton after the crops were washed away by floods. Cotton prices increased by ₹500 per candy (356 kg). Shankar-6 cotton was quoted between ₹57,500-58,000 per candy. Cotton arrivals were below 5,000 bales of 170 kg in Gujarat, while all-India arrivals were estimated at 20,000-22,000 bales of 170 kg.
