"We will also develop a new Textile and Fashion Industries of Australia (TFIA) directory and ramp up our work in connecting into export markets. We seek to develop community in each of the activities that we undertake, which means we try to facilitate bringing people together to learn from each other and to encourage new business relationships," said Dave.
For the year ahead, other high impact project is mapping the industry, including the local supply chain, service providers and offshore production. Once we understand our industry capability better we can then upgrade our now tired TFIA directory into a more useful tool for connecting companies around demand and supply, stated Dave.
"The year started with the launch of our Curated programme for emerging designers, a comprehensive 'pen range' incubator to help promising young fashion labels through the first years of their business life. We've now had two significant pop-up events (with a third to open at Melbourne Fashion Week (MFW) in the next couple of weeks), workshops, mentoring sessions and celebrations. Curated is now made up of 24 labels (and growing) with plans next year to take the concept to new states," concluded Dave. (RR)
