Feb US LEI falls; 11th consecutive monthly drop: The Conference Board

The Conference Board leading economic index (LEI) for the United States fell again by 0.3 per cent in February this year to 110.0 (2016=100) after declining by the same figure in January.

The LEI is down by 3.6 per cent over the six-month period between August last year and February this year—a steeper rate of decline than its 3-per-cent contraction over the previous six months.

The LEI for the country fell for the eleventh consecutive month in February.

The Conference Board is a member-driven think tank.

The Conference Board coincident economic index (CEI) for the country rose by 0.1 per cent in February to 109.8, after rising by 0.2 per cent in January.

The CEI is now up by 0.6 per cent over the six-month period between August 2022 and February 2023—slightly lower than 0.7 per cent growth it recorded over the previous six months.
