Germany's price expectations fell slightly in June, registering at 15.9 points, down from 16.1 in May, according to the ifo Business Survey. This decline is notably observed in the manufacturing and consumer-related industries, where fewer companies plan to raise their prices compared to the previous month.
In consumer-related businesses, the price expectations decreased slightly to 22.7 points from 23 in May. This indicates that price increases are expected to be less frequent, especially among clothing retailers.
In the manufacturing sector, price expectations dropped to 6.6 points from 7.4 in May. This decline is more pronounced in non-energy-intensive industries, reaching its lowest level since November 2020 at 6.8 points. Conversely, in energy-intensive industries, the trend of price declines appears to have halted. After 14 consecutive months of negative figures, price expectations have been positive since May and remained largely unchanged at 2.6 points in June, as per the ifo Institute.
