India's Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council yesterday held its 38th meeting in New Delhi and recommended raising the GST rate on woven and non-woven bags and sacks of polyethylene or polypropylene (PP) strips or the like (laminated or otherwise) used for packing of goods from 12 per cent to 18 per cent uniformly. This change shall be effective from January 1.
