Fortum is a Finnish state-owned energy company focusing on the Nordic and Baltic countries, Poland, Russia and India. The crop residue potential varies significantly among Indian states. In terms of gross potential, it ranges from a minimum of 0.21 metric tonnes (MT) in Mizoram to a maximum of 121 MT in Uttar Pradesh. Sugarcane, wheat and rice contribute more than 90 per cent residue generated in Uttar Pradesh, he said.
Punjab, another agriculturally advanced state of India, produces 83 MT gross residues annually, he told Fibre2Fashion in an interview.
