Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), India’s largest player in polyester value chain, has again slashed prices of purified terephthalic acid (PTA) and MELT for the coming week. However, monoethylene glycol (MEG) prices were kept unchanged. Earlier, RIL had reduced the price of PSF by ₹6 to ₹104 per kg for the current fortnight. Last week, the company had reduced prices of PTA and MELT, but had kept price of MEG unchanged.According to market sources, for the coming week, RIL has fixed prices as: PTA ₹81.30 per kg (decrease of ₹2.10), MEG at ₹52.00 per kg (unchanged) and MELT ₹87.60 per kg (decrease of ₹1.81). The pricing of polyester raw materials will come into effect from coming Saturday. RIL is reducing prices of PTA and MELT regularly to align domestic prices with global trend.

At the beginning of this fortnight, the company had reduced prices of polyester staple fibre (PSF) by ₹6 to ₹104 per kg. RIL had slashed PSF prices two times in last week.
RIL reviews price trend in China and fluctuation in crude oil to fix prices of polyester raw materials. Indian market follows the price trend of Reliance as it is dominating player in the country.
