India's Sept 2022 merchandise exports drop by 3.52% YoY to $32.62 bn

India’s merchandise exports in September were worth $32.62 billion--a fall of 3.52 per cent over $33.81 billion in the same month last year, while such imports were worth $59.35 billion— a rise of 5.44 per cent over $56.29 billion in September 2021. The trade deficit in September was $26.72 billion, while it was $149.47 billion between April and September.

The trade deficit figure in September this year was an improvement over the figure of $28.68 billion in August.

The merchandise exports figure for the April-September period this year was $229.05 billion—a rise of 15.54 per cent over $198.25 billion during the same period last year, while the import figure for the period was $378.53 billion—an increase of 37.89 per cent over $274.5 billion during April-September 2021.

Non-petroleum exports in September were worth $26.54 billion, registering a fall of 7.25 per cent over similar exports of $28.62 billion in the same month last year. The value of similar exports in the April -September period this year was $179.17 billion, an YoY increase of 5.6 per cent.

Non-petroleum imports were worth $43.75 billion in September—a YoY rise of 10.73 per cent. The cumulative value of such imports in April -September this year was $263.54 billion, a YoY increase of 28.58 per cent.
