A trader from Ludhiana market told Fibre2Fashion, “The market is expected to remain steady as consumer industry has already replenished its stocks for the coming summer season. The prospects of retail demand was also not so promising.” 30 count PC combed yarn (48/52) traded at ₹208-218 per kg (GST inclusive) in Ludhiana, according to Fibre2Fashion’s market insight tool TexPro. 30 count PC carded yarn (65/35) was sold at ₹194-204 per kg. 30 count polyester spun was priced at ₹152-162 per kg (GST inclusive) in the north Indian market. Recycled polyester fibre (PET bottle fibre) was quoted at ₹73-75 per kg.

Trade source from Surat market said that market sentiments were bearish in polyester spun yarn as demand remained average. Surat market did not see any significant movement in polyester yarn prices. 30 count poly spun yarn was traded at ₹137-138 per kg (GST extra) and 40 counts poly spun yarn at ₹149-153 per kg.

Viscose yarn, however, was traded higher by ₹2-3 per kg in Surat market as demand was better before the coming summer season. Cotton-like viscose yarn normally has strong demand in the summer season because of its cotton type feel and moisture capacity. The price of 30 viscose compact yarn (Local) was ₹197-200 per kg (GST Extra) in Surat.

In Mumbai market too, viscose yarn prices registered gains of ₹2-3 per kg. A trader from Mumbai told Fibre2Fashion, “Coming summer season and implementation of QCO on viscose fibre also pushed up yarn prices. There was feeling of rise in viscose value chain as QCO already restricted imported supplies. Many foreign suppliers were waiting for BIS licence required for supply of viscose fibre.” Imported 30 count viscose vertex yarn was priced at ₹181-186 per kg. Local 30 count ring spun viscose yarn was quoted at ₹190-193 per kg, as per TexPro.

North India cotton prices remained steady despite rise in other states of the country. According to the traders, poor quality in Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan has undervalued the natural fibre produced in north India. Cotton prices were noted at previous levels except slight gain in lower Rajasthan. Spinning mills and MNCs have been diverted to Gujarat and Maharashtra as they did not get expected quality of cotton. Daily cotton arrival was estimated at 15,000 bales of 170 kg in the region. State-wise arrival was: Punjab 2,000 bales, Haryana 5,000 bales, upper Rajasthan 5,000 bales and lower Rajasthan 3,000 bales. Cotton was priced in Punjab at ₹5,475-5,575 and in Haryana at ₹5,465-5,565, upper Rajasthan at ₹5,350-5,550 per maund of 37.2 kg. Bikaner line cotton was sold at ₹5,550-5,650 per maund. In lower Rajasthan, cotton was priced at ₹52,300-54,300 per candy of 356 kg.
