According to Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro, Indonesia’s imports of apparel and fabric during the last quarter of 2023 were $143.070 million and $1,038.104 million, respectively.
Annual import data shows volatility in apparel imports. In 2023, Indonesia imported apparel worth $539.370 million, slightly lower than the $586.299 million imported in 2022. Previous years saw imports of $637.590 million in 2021, $627.349 million in 2020, and $844.720 million in 2019.
Fabric imports also fluctuated, dropping to $3,999.075 million in 2023 from $4,769.954 million in 2022. The imports had decreased significantly to $3,159.823 million in 2020 from $4,320.039 million in 2019, before recovering to $4,322.120 million in 2021 and $4,769.954 million in 2022.
Indonesia’s apparel exports saw a notable rise in 2022, reaching $9,580.622 million after several years of slower growth. However, exports decreased to $8,001.823 million in 2023 and $2,029.396 million for the first quarter of 2024. Fabric exports were recorded at $213.545 million in January-March 2024, down from $870.114 million in 2023 and $915.553 million in 2022, as per TexPro.
