Italy’s industrial production index for February 2024 has shown a marginal increase of 0.1 per cent on a seasonally adjusted basis compared to January 2024, according to the data by the Italian National Institute of Statistics (Istat). Despite this slight uptick, the broader outlook reveals challenges, as the average change over the last three months compared to the preceding three months dipped by 0.7 per cent.The country also saw a notable year-on-year decline, with the calendar-adjusted industrial production index falling by 3.1 per cent in comparison to February 2023. This decrease was observed despite February 2024 having one more working day than the same month in the previous year, with 21 working days against 20.

However, a 0.7 per cent decline over the past three months and a 3.1 per cent year-on-year drop in the adjusted index highlight ongoing challenges, despite a 0.4 per cent unadjusted increase from February 2023.
However, the unadjusted industrial production index registered a 0.4 per cent increase when compared with February 2023, as per Istat.
