The khadi parks will be set up in Amda, Rajnagar (Seraikelal-Kharswan), and Deoghar. These would be ready for inauguration by the end of this fiscal, while a similar park in Dumka would be completed in a years’ time, Jharkhand State Khadi and Gram Udyog Board chairman Jainandu said in a press conference.
The board has been emphasising on production of quality products with focus on the branding aspects to explore the possibilities to tap export market, Jainandu said. He added that the board was planning to produce one new design quality product every day and will appoint a designer soon.
Informing about the board’s plan for readymade garments, he said, “We have taken initiative to become hi-tech in the readymade garment sector and are in negotiation with a US agency to explore possibilities in the export market. We are in talks with various designing institutions including NIFT and the response to our products including readymade garments was very good in the domestic market.”
The board will open a four-storey Khadi emporium which is expected to be ready by 2nd October. It will also open a modern office on 6,500 sq ft area in Ranchi at a cost of Rs 5 crore.
Referring to the performance of the board in 2014-15, Jainandu said a turnover of Rs 300 crore was registered and the figure was expected to improve in the current fiscal. (NA)
