The Kazakh ministry of trade and integration and the Belarussian ministry of anti-monopoly regulation and trade recently concluded a memorandum of cooperation (MoC) to regulate trade and public catering and protect domestic markets. It was signed during the visit of a trade delegation led by Kazakh vice minister of trade and integration Kairat Torebayev to Belarus.

Torebayev met first deputy minister of anti-monopoly regulation and trade of Belarus Ivan Vezhnovets.

Both sides discussed their experience in regulating prices for significant food products and measures to combat unfair competition in the market.

To fight intermediaries, Torebayev said Kazakhstan is working to create a modern distribution system: a network of wholesale distribution and agro-logistics centres, according to a press release on the Kazakh prime minister’s website.

Belarus was interested in the experience of Kazakhstan in containing prices with the help of stabilisation funds and trading networks with retro bonuses.

They also discussed protecting consumer rights in the context of the digital transformation of the economy and the exchange trade in food products.
