Kunming hosts 3rd round negotiations for Version 3.0 China-ASEAN FTA

Efforts to enhance cooperation between China and the Association of South Asian Nations (ASEAN) in digital and green economy and in supply and industrial chains will be made to boost development of bilateral economic and trade relations and regional economic integration, Chinese vice commerce minister Wang Shouwen recently told delegates at the third round of negotiations on Version 3.0 of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (FTA).

The four-day negotiations are being held in Kunming, capital of Yunnan province.

China is prepared to work with ASEAN countries to jointly improve the level of open cooperation in Version 3.0 China-ASEAN FTA, and build an inclusive, modern, comprehensive and mutually beneficial agreement, said Wang.

This version will further upgrade the comprehensive strategic partnership between both sides, he was quoted as saying by official Chinese media outlets.

About 370 government officials from both sides attended the negotiations.

The official launch of the negotiations was announced in November last year.
