The special event - Marco De Vincenzo SS2020 men’s collection – will be organised in collaboration with the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (The National Chamber for Italian Fashion), said Pitti Immagine in a press release.
Vincenzo was born in Messina. At the age of eighteen, after getting his high school diploma, he moved to Rome to study fashion and lifestyle at the European Institute of Design. At age twenty-one he joined the Fendi style office where he is currently the creative head of leather goods. In 2009 he launched the eponymous brand and in July of the same year he won the first prize of the ‘Who is On Next?’ competition organised by Vogue Italia. In 2014 Marco signed a partnership with LVMH and in 2019 he reorganised the corporate structure through the entry of a second partner: Mmgp.
Today Vincenzo is internationally recognised as one of the most original and interesting voices of contemporary Italian fashion. Vincenzo’s work is distinguished by his innate tendency for contradiction that leads him to experiment and seek innovation in each collection.
“Vincenzo is one of the most successful Italian fashion talents on an international level,” said Lapo Cianchi, Pitti Immagine director of communication & events. “We are happy that he is back at Pitti Uomo for the debut of his menswear collection. I am convinced that together we will find a space in Florence able to further inspire him for this truly special occasion. It already happened three years ago when his installation inside the historic Niccolini Theater built around the visual and spatial relationships between the clothes, crystals and lights enthralled the public due to the refined cultural references. May it be a good omen for this new, necessary and courageous undertaking of Vincenzo.”
“In 2016 I was invited by Pitti as a guest designer for women’s ready-to-wear,” said Vincenzo, designer and founder of Marco de Vincenzo brand. “The energy of that event was so incredible that I had promised myself I would return for an important debut. My first menswear collection could only be presented in a similar context, where the joy of doing this job is felt in every corner of the city.” (PC)
