Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday held a comprehensive meeting to discuss strategies to attract more foreign investment into India and promote domestic investment to boost the economy during the COVID-19 pandemic. He urged for a more proactive approach to handhold investors, to look into their problems and help them in getting all necessary clearances.

Reform initiatives undertaken by various ministries should continue unabated and action should be taken in a time bound manner to remove any obstacles that impede promotion of investment and industrial growth, it was discussed.

The meeting explored options to start a scheme to promote more plug-and-play infrastructure in the existing industrial lands and provide necessary financing support, an official release said.

The meeting was attended by the several other ministers and senior government officials.

Meanwhile, minister of road transport & highways and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) Nitin Gadkari launched a portal for Bank of Schemes, Ideas, Innovation and Research (ideas.msme.gov.in/) on MSMEs through a video conference from Nagpur.

The portal gives access to all schemes of central, state and union territory governments. It has the provision for uploading ideas, innovations and research in the sector.

The control room set up by the department for promotion of industry and internal trade (DPIIT) under the commerce and industry ministry starting March 26 to monitor issues related to the industry and trade resolved 1,739 queries out of the 1,962 received till April 28, the ministry said in a press release.

More than 1,000 queries were received from Delhi, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Gujarat.
