Panelists at the first session on ‘Surviving amid global trade uncertainties – Lessons learnt and opportunities’, included Christian Ewert, president, Amfori, the leading global business association for open and sustainable trade. Gareth Brooks, MD, VF Asia Ltd and chairman of the apparel and footwear committee, The American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, moderated the session.
The second session deliberated on a way out of the global trade disputes. Panelists including representatives of Hugo Boss, Pan Brothers, and Matrix Clothing shared their viewpoints on the privileges under free trade agreements (FTAs) and the EU’s Generalised Scheme of Preferences (GSP).
Post-lunch, Carlos Moncayo Castillo, CEO & Co-founder of Inspectorio Inc, spoke on ‘How next generation technology is disrupting a siloed quality control industry’. Castillo is an innovative serial entrepreneur who was selected as Asia’s Best Young Entrepreneur in 2009 by BusinessWeek magazine readers. He is the youngest permanent member of the World Entrepreneurship Forum and was named Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2012.
