North Carolina governor Roy Cooper recently visited Unifi's Yadkinville facility and saw the economic impact the company is having on the state by demonstrating how sustainability can make a significant difference in the nation’s circular economy. The company makes its REPREVE® fibre from recycled materials, including plastic water bottles, at this plant.

Unifi is a global textile solutions provider and one of the world's leading innovators in manufacturing synthetic and recycled performance fibres.

"We've invested $130 million over the past three years to deliver on innovation and our goal to reach 20 billion bottles transformed by 2020, and more than 30 billion by 2022 as we convert them into our REPREVE sustainable and performance fibres," a company press release quoted chairman and CEO Kevin Hall as saying.

The company wants to raise opportunities for North Carolina businesses to turn waste into value, thereby creating new revenue streams while continually reducing environmental impact. (DS)
