Sri Lanka’s weft knitted fabric manufacturer Ocean Lanka (Pvt) Ltd plans to expand its market in Japan, according to company managing director Austin Au, who recently said discussions are under way to start exports early next year. He said the company has a market presence in Japan and is looking at more markets in the high-end European sand US segments.

The company, a joint venture between Hong Kong based Fountain Set Holdings and local apparel giants Hirdaramani Group and Brandix Lanka limited, will benchmark its eco-friendly standards in production, Sri Lankan media reports quoted Au as saying.
Ocean Lanka has been producing quality fabric for global brands like Victoria’s Secret, Nike, Marks and Spencer, GAP, Adidas and Next. The company’s annual turnover surpassed Rs 16 billion in 2018 recording a monthly capacity of 1,500 tonnes.
