Category-wise, knitwear exports declined by 3.64 per cent year-on-year to $2.794 billion during the 12-month period ending June 30, 2020, while exports of non-knit readymade garments decreased 3.81 per cent to $2.552 billion.

Among textiles, raw cotton exports fetched $17.002 million during the period under review, showing a decrease of 16.64 per cent compared to exports of $20.396 million during the previous fiscal.

Cotton yarn exports decreased by 12.49 per cent to $984.903 million, as against exports of $1.125 billion made during fiscal 2018-19. Exports of cotton fabric also declined by 12.94 per cent and were valued at $1.829 billion during fiscal 2019-20. Bedwear exports too decreased by 4.91 per cent to $2.150 billion, the data showed.

On the import side, synthetic fibre imports were down 26.99 per cent year-on-year to $427.394 million, while imports of synthetic and artificial silk yarn declined by 26.98 per cent to $503.571 million. Meanwhile, the value of textile machinery imports by Pakistan decreased by 18.71 per cent year-on-year to $437.321 million during the period under review.
