India's leading textile companies displayed a mixed performance in the September 2023 quarter, with some firms showing significant growth while others faced challenges.

Trident Ltd's strong growth

Trident Ltd, a leading firm engaged in manufacturing, trading, and selling textiles, reported a notable increase in its revenue in September 2023 quarter, reaching ₹1,761.18 crore, up from ₹1,419.17 crore in September 2022 quarter. The company's total income also rose to ₹1,775.52 crore from ₹1,423.86 crore. A significant jump was seen in its net profit, which surged to ₹127.66 crore, compared to ₹39.66 crore in the previous year. Earnings per share (EPS) increased to ₹0.25 from ₹0.07, and the operating profit margin (OPM) improved to 16.47 per cent from 10.41 per cent. The net profit margin (NPM) also rose to 7.25 per cent from 2.79 per cent.

Lux Industries faces slight downturn

Known widely for brands like Lux Cozi and Onn, Lux Industries saw a marginal increase in revenue from ₹631.39 crore to ₹638.05 crore. However, the company's net profit declined to ₹38.34 crore from ₹42.98 crore. EPS also decreased to ₹12.75 from ₹14.29. Both OPM and NPM saw a drop, with OPM falling to 9.59 per cent from 10.82 per cent, and NPM decreasing to 6.01 per cent from 6.81 per cent.

Vardhman Textiles sees dip in revenue

Vardhman Textiles Ltd, a leading company in yarn and clothing businesses, reported a revenue of ₹2,334.05 crore and a total income of ₹2,424.67 crore in September 2023 quarter. This is compared to a revenue of ₹2,469.58 crore and a total income of ₹2,499.98 crore in September 2022 quarter. The company's net profit for September 2023 was ₹128.45 crore, which is lower than the ₹206.91 crore reported in the same period the previous year. The EPS decreased to ₹4.44 in September 2023 from ₹7.20 in September 2022. The OPM for September 2023 was 12.46 per cent and the NPM was 5.50 per cent.

Welspun Living Ltd registers significant improvement

Leading Indian textile firm Welspun Living Ltd showed growth with its revenue climbing to ₹2,008.64 crore from ₹1,529.61 crore. The total income also increased to ₹2,050.12 crore from ₹1,557.63 crore. The company's net profit saw a substantial rise to ₹167.85 crore from just ₹7.84 crore. EPS improved to ₹1.74 from ₹0.08. There was a notable increase in OPM to 14.65 per cent from 5.78 per cent and in NPM to 8.36 per cent from 0.51 per cent.
