Peru’s export volume of non-traditional products grew by 16.4 per cent when compared to the same month of the previous year, influenced by the growth of various sectors including textiles. Textiles sector recorded a surge of 68.9 per cent year-on-year, said the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) in its latest report.The growth of the textile sector was influenced by higher shipments of cotton polo shirts (110 per cent), knitted cotton shirts (16.1 per cent), polo shirts and knitted T-shirts made of other textile materials (98.5 per cent).
Exports of knitted cotton (134.2 per cent), knitted cotton nightgowns and pajamas (22.1 per cent), cotton sweaters (114.4 per cent) and fine combed or combed alpaca or llama hair (103.7 per cent) also grew in the month of August, the INEI said in a press release.
