The seasonally-adjusted youth unemployment rate in the 15-24 age group in the month was 17.6 per cent—a rise of 1.7 percentage points MoM. This rate was estimated 14.8 per cent for men and 23.2 per cent for women. The number of unemployed persons aged 15 and over increased by 234,000 MoM to 3.305 million in June.
The seasonally-adjusted employment rate in the country in the month was estimated at 49.3 per cent—a decrease of 0.6 percentage point MoM. This rate was 66.9 per cent for men and 32.1 per cent for women.
The number of employed persons decreased by 341,000 MoM to 32.522 million in June.
The seasonally-adjusted labour force participation rate (LFPR) was 54.4 per cent in the month; it was 72.4 per cent for men and 36.7 per cent for women. The number of persons in the labour force was 35.827 million—a decrease of 107,000 MoM.
The seasonally-adjusted composite measure of labour underutilisation rate was 29.2 per cent in the month—an increase of 3.8 percentage points MoM, a Turkstat release said.
While the combined rate of time-related underemployment and unemployment was 20.2 per cent, the combined rate of unemployment and potential labour force was an estimated 19.5 per cent.
