China has remained Mongolia's largest trading partner for the year to date. Bilateral trade between the two countries totalled $13 billion from January to September 2023. Furthermore, China continued to be Mongolia's top destination for exports and its leading supplier of imports during this period, according to the latest media reports.
In the realm of textile trade, China's apparel exports have seen healthy growth in recent years. According to TexPro, Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool, exports were recorded at $4.794 million in 2019, doubling to $9.837 million in 2020. Apparel exports from China to Mongolia further increased to $13.843 million in 2021 and reached $36.678 million in 2022.
Fabric exports from China to Mongolia were recorded at $15.938 million during the first eight months of the current year. Chinese shipments to the country stood at $7.229 million in 2019, more than doubling to $16.886 million in 2020. Exports further increased to $23.180 million in 2021, before easing to $20.870 million in 2022, according to TexPro.
China also exported yarn to Mongolia worth $6.471 million from January to August 2023. Earlier figures indicate that the exports were noted at $6.508 million in 2022, $4.524 million in 2021, $4.693 million in 2020, and $6.023 million in 2019.
