Tempur Sealy International Q4 FY19 sales jump 28.9%

Tempur Sealy International, a manufacturer of mattresses, foundations and pillows, has reported 28.9 per cent jump in its net sales to $871.3 million in fourth quarter (Q4) FY19 compared to $676.1 million in same quarter prior year. Net sales in full FY19 ended on December 31, 2019 grew 14.9 per cent to $3,106.0 million compared to $2,702.9 million in FY18.
 
Gross margin in the quarter was 44.3 per cent compared to 41.9 per cent in same quarter prior year. Operating income increased 46.1 per cent to $84.6 million as compared to $57.9 million in same quarter prior year. Net income increased 275.6 per cent to $46.2 million as compared to $12.3 million in same quarter prior year.
 
Gross margin in full FY19 was 43.2 per cent compared to 41.5 per cent in 2018. Operating income increased to $346.7 million as compared to $256.3 million in FY18. Net income increased 88.6 per cent to $189.5 million as compared to $100.5 million in prior fiscal.
 
North America net sales increased 36.3 per cent to $719.2 million as compared to $527.6 million in Q4 FY18. North America net sales through the wholesale channel increased to $641.0 million, driven primarily by the expansion of our retail distribution network, as company reported.
 
International net sales increased 2.4 per cent to $152.1 million as compared to $148.5 million in same quarter prior year. International net sales through the wholesale channel decreased 1.2 per cent to $117.9 million as compared to $119.3 million in FY18.
