US Upland cotton sales up 21%, Pima 6% this week: USDA

Net sales of Upland cotton in the United States for the 2024-25 season totalled 229,000 running bales (RB), each weighing 226.8 kg (500 pounds). This represents a 21 per cent increase from the previous week and a 51 per cent increase from the prior 4-week average.

According to the USDA’s export sales report for the week ending October 31, significant sales increases were primarily seen for Pakistan (72,200 RB), Vietnam (71,800 RB, including 100 RB switched from Malaysia), China (37,500 RB, including decreases of 900 RB), Indonesia (9,100 RB), and Honduras (8,900 RB). These increases were partially offset by reductions for South Korea (1,800 RB) and Malaysia (100 RB).

Exports of 145,800 RB for the week rose 9 per cent from the previous week and 51 per cent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were Pakistan (50,400 RB), Vietnam (21,100 RB), Turkiye (18,500 RB), India (12,000 RB), and Mexico (9,300 RB).

Net sales of Pima cotton totalled 12,300 RB for the 2024-25 season, an increase of 6 per cent from the previous week and 77 per cent from the prior 4-week average. Increases were reported for Pakistan (8,800 RB), India (2,500 RB, including decreases of 4,100 RB), Peru (800 RB), Indonesia (100 RB), and Japan (100 RB).

Exports of 7,500 RB for the week were down 19 per cent from the previous week and 7 per cent from the prior 4-week average. The primary destinations were India (5,100 RB), Djibouti (900 RB), South Korea (500 RB), Guatemala (300 RB), and Turkiye (200 RB).
