Uzbek trade body, German firm to jointly set up tech training school

The Uzbekistan Textile and Garment Industry Association and Germany’s Textima Export Import GmbH recently signed an agreement in Tashkent to jointly set up a technology school to train sector specialists from both sides.

The city hosted the ‘Textile Technology Days: Finishing, Laboratory, Sewing’ symposium, which was attended by seven leading European textile equipment manufacturers.

Uzbek textile products are sold in more than 70 countries, Shakhzoda Kuchkarova, head of the press service of the association, informed. The country’s exports in the sector last year reached $3.4 billion.

Uzbek textile firms have managed to enter Germany’s market and triple textile exports, and have created production branches of German companies like Teamdress and Langheinrich in Uzbekistan, an Uzbek news agency reported.

The Centrastex Trading House in Nuremberg and the Sustainable Cotton Association in Stuttgart will turn business platforms for further cooperation in the textile sector between the two countries.
