The group has announced a contribution of ₹1 crore to the Punjab government comprised of ₹50 lakh directly to the chief minister’s relief fund and another ₹50 lakh for the critical medical supplies in the government hospitals. DL Sharma, managing director, Vardhman Yarns & Threads handed over the cheque of ₹50 lakh to the deputy commissioner, Ludhiana Pradeep Aggarwal.
In Madhya Pradesh, S Pal, director, location– Vardhman Textiles, personally handed over a cheque of ₹1 crore to the chief minister’s relief fund. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, expressed his gratitude towards Vardhman Group on his twitter handle saying that he wholeheartedly appreciates the cooperation and support received.
In Himachal Pradesh too, the group has contributed ₹50 lakh to the chief minister’s relief fund to help the state government in fighting the ongoing menace of Covid-19. Jai Ram Thakur, the chief minister lauded the financial support from Vardhman Group at this time of crisis.
Besides the financial support, looking at the acute shortage of medical supplies, the group is contributing by manufacturing masks and PPE’s at its garments unit in Ludhiana and supplying it free of cost to the local government hospitals.
“While the nation is facing challenging times, it is our responsibility to hold on to the ray of hope and work towards preventing the spread of COVID-19. Vardhman urges every Indian citizen to stay safe and contribute one’s part in fighting this global threat,” said SP Oswal, chairman of Vardhman Group.
