Vietnam's FDI firms post $24.56 bn trade surplus between Jan 1, Jul 15

  • FDI firms in Vietnam posted a trade surplus of $24.56 billion between January 1 and July 15, raking in $148.71 billion from exports—a YoY rise of 13.7 per cent and making up 72 per cent of the total export turnover.
  • The import turnover of such firms was $124.15 billion—a YoY rise of 16.2 per cent and accounting for 63.5 per cent of the total import turnover.
Foreign direct investment (FDI) firms in Vietnam posted a trade surplus of $24.56 billion between January 1 and July 15 this year, raking in $148.71 billion from exports—a year-on-year (YoY) rise of 13.7 per cent and making up 72 per cent of the country’s total export turnover, according to the customs department.

Meanwhile, the import turnover of such firms was $124.15 billion—a YoY increase of 16.2 per cent and accounting for 63.5 per cent of the country’s total import turnover.

Vietnamese FDI firms’ total import-export turnover surged by 14.8 per cent in that period to $272.87 billion, domestic media outlets reported.

The country’s manufacturing purchasing managers' index (PMI) kept improving at 54.7 in both June and July compared to 50.3 in May, while 60 out of 63 localities saw their industrial production index up in July.

Many localities like Khanh Hoa, Bac Giang, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh witnessed double digit growth.
