The country’s General Statistics Office (GSO) said the first seven months of the year saw the sector’s export revenue surge by 5.9 per cent YoY to $23.9 billion.
Fibre and yarn exports between January and July this year rose by 3.5 per cent YoY to $2.53 billion, while that of fabrics soared as well by 18 per cent YoY to $458 million.
The country’s garment-textile industry imported raw materials worth $878 million during the seven-month period, representing an 11.4-per cent increase YoY, domestic media outlets reported.
Textile-garment exports last year reached $39.5 billion—a drop of 10 per cent YoY. This year the sector has set an export turnover target of $44 billion, marking a YoY rise of 10 per cent.
