Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh recently called for stronger partnerships between businesses from his country and China to concretise agreements, commitments and common perceptions reached by the two countries.

He made the call while addressing the Vietnam-China Business Seminar in Chongqing city as part of his ongoing tour of China to attend the 8th Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS) Cooperation Summit and related summits.

Both sides are working to deploy a smart customs system to simplify procedures and devised policies to improve logistics infrastructure, provide financial support, foster technical cooperation and develop emerging industries like digital economy, green economy and circular economy, the prime minister was cited as saying by domestic media outlets.

Vietnam is accelerating the implementation of three strategic breakthroughs of institutional building, strategic infrastructure development and high-quality human resource development, he said.

It is also doubling efforts to build an open, transparent, fair and healthy business and investment environment, he added.

As of October 2024, China poured almost $30 billion in investment capital in nearly 5,000 projects in Vietnam. Trade between both sides stood at $172 billion last year and $190.9 billion in the first nine months this year—a year-on-year increase of 14.5 per cent.
