Fabric exports were valued at $33.983 billion from January to June 2024, representing 79.66 per cent of total textile exports. The shipment of yarn was $6.996 billion, accounting for 16.40 per cent of the total. Meanwhile, fibre exports were noted at $1.680 billion, comprising 3.94 per cent of total textile exports, according to Fibre2Fashion's market insight tool TexPro.
Nearly 80 per cent of fabric exports out of total textile exports indicate that China has focused on maximising the benefits of value addition. The country has placed minimal emphasis on yarn and fibre exports. The large volume of fabric exports from China is becoming a challenge for spinning and weaving industries in several countries, including major markets for Chinese shipments.
Interestingly, China’s focus on maximising fabric exports remained unchanged, with fabric exports maintaining the same level of 80 per cent in previous years.
As per TexPro, Chinese fabric exports totalled $65.895 billion in 2023, which accounted for 79.41 per cent of the total textile exports of $90.685 billion that year. Yarn shipments were valued at $13.751 billion (16.53 per cent), and fibre exports at $3.805 billion (4.20 per cent) during the same period. A similar ratio of textile product exports was observed in previous years.
