This gain spanned various categories, with garment exports experiencing a 1.4 per cent rise. The exports of garments and accessories during January to March 2024 totalled $33.816 billion, up from $33.338 billion in the same period in 2023.
Textile products, including yarn and fabric, also saw a slight increase. From January to March 2024, there was a 2.6 per cent year-on-year rise, reaching a total of $32.094 billion from $31.276 billion in the same period in 2023.
During March 2024, Chinese exports of garments and clothing were noted at $10.434 billion, and the shipment of textile yarn, fabrics, and articles at $10.383 billion, totalling $20.817 billion.
Moreover, China's imports of textile yarn and fabric products also increased to $2.698 billion, which is 12.3 per cent higher than the $2.403 billion in the first three months of 2023. In March 2024, the imports by China reached $1.118 billion.
In 2023, China's exports of textiles, garments, and accessories had decreased by 8.05 per cent to $293.641 billion from $319.376 billion in 2022. Garment exports slipped by 7.8 per cent to $159.144 billion, and textile exports by 8.3 per cent to $134.497 billion in the last year. China's imports of textile yarn and fabric products had also declined by 1.2 per cent to $11.742 billion from $11.881 billion in 2022.
