Container throughput at China's ports rises by 4.7% in 2022

Container throughput at Chinese ports increased by 4.7 per cent year on year (YoY) last year, according to ministry of transport data. Domestic ports handled 296 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) of containers last year, the ministry’s annual report on the development of the transport industry said.

Cargo throughput at China's ports was about 15.69 billion tonnes during the year—up by 0.9 per cent from the previous year, official Chinese media outlets reported.

Cargo throughput at the country's coastal ports went up by 1.6 per cent YoY to 10.13 billion tonnes, while goods handled at the inland ports reduced by 0.3 per cent to 5.55 billion tonnes.
