During the meeting, DCCI president Ashraf Ahmed commended the close bilateral economic cooperation between BAngladesh and Sri Lanka even as he stressed the importance of expanding mutually beneficial partnerships in bilateral trade and investment.
The DCCI assured continuous support for arranging B2B meetings, seminars, and related activities to promote bilateral economic relations.
High commissioner Dharmapala Weerakkody on his part emphasised the proposed Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) between the two countries. He stated that fostering two-way trade and tourism cooperation are key priorities for Sri Lanka in enhancing economic ties with Bangladesh.
Weerakkody noted the significant demand in Bangladesh markets for Sri Lankan products such as spices, virgin coconut oil, and animal feed. He also highlighted Bangladesh as a preferred destination for Sri Lankan companies seeking to expand through foreign investments.
Both parties agreed to exchange business delegations to further boost bilateral economic cooperation.
