Vietnam’s exports to Canada were worth $2.04 billion in the first fourth months of 2022—up by 31.77 per cent year on year (YoY). The export value of apparel was worth $392.278 million, growing by 57.59 per cent, annually. Despite the pandemic, Vietnam shipped goods worth $5.3 billion to Canada last year, an annual increase of 20.8 per cent.According to the Vietnam Trade Office in Canada, Vietnam is the biggest partner of the North American nation in Southeast Asia. However, room for Vietnamese products to enter the Canadian market remains large, as their value now just accounts for 1.7 per cent of Canada’s total imports, according to Vietnamese media reports.
Access to the Canadian market, however, faces various challenges, particularly high transport and preservation costs and strict safety and technical standards.
